Field Trip Information

Overview

We are looking forward to having you join us for a Phinizy Swamp Nature Park outing. The field trip will be led by Southeastern Natural Sciences Academy staff and volunteers. The Academy is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting environmental stewardship through education, research, land conservation and public outreach.

Where

All field trips will begin at the main entrance of Phinizy Swamp Nature Park.  Please pull into the parking lot and have students remain on their bus.  Academy staff or volunteers will meet you and provide additional directions.

What to Wear

• Weather-appropriate clothing
• Rain gear (if needed)
• Old shoes (it may get muddy)
• Hat (especially in hot weather)

Avoid Wearing...

• OPEN-TOED SHOES OR SANDALS
• Scents (perfume, hairspray, lotion, etc.)

What to Expect

Expect less than a mile walk on dirt paths unless otherwise stated for the program selected.

Field Trip Modifications or Cancellations

Field trips take place rain or shine.  Most of our field trips can be accommodated in the Academy's classroom, laboratory, and covered outdoor classrooms in case of inclement weather.  Please refer to the Academy field trip cancellation policy.  In the event of school cancellation or severe weather, please contact the Academy Office at 706-796-7707 to discuss options.
