Swamp A Rama Rubric

Level 4
• Student can accurately list the components of any animal's habitat, and can describe the importance of arrangement.
• Student can list more than four different types of habitats in nature, and accurately list three or four of the animals that live in each.
• Student can explain the difference between a carnivore, herbivore, and omnivore, and can explain general differences in the teeth of mammals that are carnivores and herbivores (they may even remember the different names of the teeth).

Level 3
• Student can accurately list the components of an animal's habitat, but does not understand the concept of arrangement.
• Student can list less than four different habitats, and two or three animals that live in each.
• Student understands that herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores eat different types of food and that there are differences in the teeth of mammals that are herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores, but has only partial accuracy in remembering all of the differences.

Level 2
• Student can only list one or two components of an animal's habitat, and does not understand arrangement.
• Student can only list one or two habitats and only one animal that lives in each.
• Student understands that different animals eat different types of food, but does not accurately remember the special names we give them or specifics about how their teeth are different.

Level 1
• Student cannot accurately list any of the components of an animal's habitat.
• Student cannot accurately list any habitats.
• Student does not understand that animals can be classified based on what types of food they eat, and has minimal recall about different types of mammal teeth.
